Grateful for 10 Amazing Years!
Last month marks ten years since Shaw Berg and I partnered to create My Dental Agency. When we started, I knew we had something special, but I didn’t realize just how special it was. I never doubted we would be successful, but I didn’t imagine we would blow all our goals out of the water. I had no idea how incredible our team would become, the caliber of clientele we would attract, or the impact we would have on the dental industry.
Our Philosophy
We’ve always believed in quality over quantity, but didn’t quite know how to articulate that initially. The real turning point for us came in 2020, when we decided once and for all the type of practice we wanted to work with: those that genuinely care about their patients, are quality driven, and are not looking for a marketing vendor. Over the last ten years, we have fine-tuned that philosophy.
Our Principles
Along this ten-year journey, Shawn and I have learned a lot, which has made us better business owners. However, I believe we owe much of our success to the guiding principles we established from day one:
- Stay true to ourselves
- Put our people first
- Always do what’s right, even when no one is watching
We have never been satisfied with doing an okay job, and we’ve never chased after the competition. Sticking to our values has allowed us to build an amazing team and forge our own path.
Our Team
Speaking of the MDA team … there’s no way we’d still be here without them. Our people make MDA what it is. At a recent company retreat, we gave out awards, and not the typical “highest sales,” either. We wanted to recognize our people for their less conventional contributions that are just as important to our success. We awarded the Legacy of Light to the team member who has been with us from the start. The Ownership Excellence award went to the team member who shows up every day like they own the company. We gave the Thoughtful Challenger award to a long-time team member who pushes back with purpose, encouraging us to consider different perspectives. Our company and clients are better because of these dedicated people whom we have the privilege to work alongside every day.
Our Success
Looking back ten years ago, as a brand new business owner, I talked to anyone who would listen, networked constantly, and reached out to countless publications and podcasts. Today, I’m writing for several major trade publications, receiving invitations to speak at national events, and connecting with the most influential thought leaders in the industry. It amazes me every day.
With that, I want to thank everyone who has ever been a part of MDA, team members and clients alike, people and practices who have stayed with us through the years, and those who worked with us only briefly. They’ve all contributed to our success in some way, and we owe them our gratitude.
Here’s to the next ten years! May we continue to learn, grow, achieve our goals, and help dental practices find success.
