One of the best ways to keep your marketing content fresh is to take advantage of the holidays. From a “Jacked-Up Jack o’ Lantern Teeth” contest at Halloween to a “Show Your Teeth Some Love” photo contest for Valentine’s Day, they give your patients a break from the typical dentistry themed posts and remind them that you are more than the person who pokes around in their mouths twice a year. If you’re limiting yourself to the traditional holidays, though, you’re missing out on a major marketing opportunity. Americans LOVE sports! The Super Bowl, Daytona 500, The US Open, The Stanley Cup, The Kentucky Derby … we are glued to our television sets to learn the outcome (and maybe find out how we fared on our bets). With March Madness in full swing, now is the perfect opportunity for you to market to your favorite basketball fans. Here are a few ideas to get you going:
- “Bracket” Contest — Take advantage of the play on words and have your own “bracket” contest. Invite orthodontic patients to share their best basketball poses. Allow other patients to vote on the best and narrow it down — just as you would with a basketball bracket.
- “Cinderella” Feature — This is a good opportunity to showcase patients with outcomes better or sooner than expected. From whitening results to healing from an implant placement, anyone who has better results than expected can be an inspiration for your other patients.
- Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, and Final Four — Facebook makes polls easy. Use that to let your patients vote on which team (or team member, in your case) is more likely to win. Wanna make things interesting? Enter the voters into a raffle: the person who determines the winner (and is selected) wins a prize to be determined by you. Whether you chose an iTunes gift card or a complimentary whitening treatment, your patients will be enticed to participate.
- Office Brackets — Have your team members (and you) place “bets” on certain teams and allow your patients to watch the elimination process. The higher the stakes, the more interesting, so the winner should get something very public and very BIG!
Don’t stall out on marketing ideas; use what’s right in front of you! Sporting events are the perfect opportunity to promote your practice AND connect with your patients. If you let your team members and your patients weigh in on the results, they’ll see just how invested you are in making meaningful connections.
